Memory Foam Pillow

The idea is the memory pillow will 'shape it's self to your head providing the pressure relieving properties of the memory foam. It then returns to its original shape when the pressure and heat of the head is removed. Orthopaedic and memory foam pillows bring relief to many who were previously denied a good nights sleep.

What is Memory Foam
Memory foam (memory foam pillow) is made from chemicals like polyurethane and made to different densities (weight or heaviness). It is also know as viscoelastic polyurethane and is made to mould to the head/body and is firmer in cooler temperatures and softer in warmer ones. It is believed that memory foam was originally developed by NASA in their research into G-force pressure on astronauts. They found that memory foam could be useful in protecting them during take off but it was not used extensively. Today, memory foam is now used for providing comfort and support in memory pillows or contour pillow, wheelchair seat cushions, bed pillows, and mattresses and seat padding.

How do Memory Foam Pillows work?
The pillow works by the memory foam reacting to body heat which allows it to mould itself to the shape of a warm body or head within minutes. The Pillow will revert back to normal once the ‘pressure’ (head or neck) has been removed. This can be shown by pressing a hand or head into the foam and then removing it leaving a clear impression of the hand or head in the foam.

Put off by unpleasant odours?
One of the down sides to a memory foam pillow is that as they are manmade they can give off an unpleasant chemical odour which can take time to fade and is off putting for many people.

Memory foam mattresses are also available for beds and use the same technology and design as the pillows providing comfort, protection and orthopaedic relief to the body for an effective sleeping environment.
Whilst proper support for the body is essential, if you are to get the most out of your sleep you need to reduce tensions and strains in the head, neck and shoulders. If you keep your neck in better alignment to your body during sleep you will reduce the likeliness of neck aches or head aches.

Orthopaedic Foam Pillows and the Contour Pillow
Our pillows work in the same ways as orthopaedic and memory foam pillows as they also 'cushion' the head providing firmness not found in feather pillows. This supports your head and neck just like an orthopaedic and memory foam pillow but as the buckwheat hulls are 'free moving' and not one mass, our pillows can be cooler than traditional memory foam pillows or an orthopaedic contour one.
